Sensei Willie has been teaching karate and hapkido for more than 25 years. He holds 6 degree black belt in both disciplines. He teaches in Mississauga Park and Recreation Centers and his own dojo, the Willow and Oak Martial Arts. His style of karate is Chitoryu loosely affiliated with Kai Sin Karate Association run by Master Monty Guest. The hapkido he teaches is from Master Charles Platten II of Chukidokwan. Its heritage can be traced back to the World Kong Shin Bup Association.
Sensei Vince is a co-owner of the Willow and Oak Martial Arts dojo. Currently, he holds a fourth degree black belt in hapkido. He also has extensively training in Muay Thai. Sensei Vice is an active marathon runner and has participated runs in Mississauga, Ottawa and Arizona. He is strong in anaerobic exercise and is instrumental in training our students to their maximum strength and endurance for self-defense in hapkido.
Sensei Andrew is a long time member of our Chitoryu karate and Hapkido school. He is a fourth degree black belt in hapkido and third degree in karate. He is teaching both style on Tuesday and Wednesday. With his challenges, Sensei Andrew is analytical in guiding students to their maximum capacity. The club is also benefited from his training in yoga from stretching.
Sensei Marek Jurys has been with the club for twenty some years. He is a third degree black belt in Chitoryu karate and second degree in hapkido. Sensei Marek is skillful and knowledgeable in teaching, especially with more junior students. Wonderful teacher with a lot of patience and tenacity, he is definitely an asset to the dojo.
Sensei Thomas has been teaching karate since the middle of 1990s. He holds fifth degree black belt in karate and fourth degree in hapkido. Sensei Thomas is well versed with different style of karate from Shotakan to Chitoryu and is fond of performing katas. He often breaks down kata in detail to explain techniques used in each move. He is definitely an asset to our club.
Sensei Phil joins the club since he was a young child and works his way up from white to black belt. He is currently a third degree black belt in karate and devotes himself teaching in the South Common Community Center our style of Chitoryu karate. He is picking up the skills in hapkido and is always hungry for more training.
Sensei Ray was recently promoted to first degree black belt in karate. He is also a brown belt in hapkido. Before he was a black belt he participated a lot in various tournaments. He traveled to different countries in Europe to compete in the WMO tournaments representing Canada and won trophies. He is a dedicated young man, well disciplined and skillful in both arts
Master Landry was the founder of the Mississauga Chitoryu Acadamy. He was a student of Bill Carr and Master Masami Tsuroka who brought karate to Canada after the World War II. Most of us are direct students from Master Landry. He retires to Florida but still actively involved with all kinds of events in martial arts. He holds a ninth degree in karate and hapkido.
